Love Songs of the French Troubadours. Portland Conservatory of Music. Add the Romance of Courtly Love to Your Valentines Day Celebration!Put the "courtliness" back in courtship! This Valentine's weekend, let Trobairitz transport you back to medieval southern France and the origins of courtly love with songs written by troubadours--usually, knights elegantly wooing noble ladies. Robin Jellis (PCM faculty) and Pam Blake (guest performer) will recreate their music on such early instruments as psaltery, recorders, rebec and crumhorn.
